Swiss Sechseläuten

We learned about Switzerland, because Jenna had heard about Fondue, and wanted and excuse to have a fondue party. Good enough for me! I decided to concentrate on the Zurich celebration of Sechseläuten, because it seemed interesting.
There are parades, one for kids where they dress up in traditional outfits, and a parade of the guilds. We combined it, and had the kids dress up as something they wanted to be when they grew up. Lots of parents didn't read the whole event information, and so kids came without outfits, but we loaned them stuff. Davis was Peter Pan, and Moira was an actress.
The kids helped me create a Boog a few days in advance, the giant paper snowman that they burn to see how good a summer we will have. We didn't add any firecrackers to his head as is traditional, since that would be illegal.
There was a craft to make a paper cuckoo clock. Moira had a hard time with this because of her artistic perfectionism, but other kids seemed to like it. There were also cuckoo coloring sheets for those who wanted them.
Moira's presentation was a Swiss Barbie I found at a thrift store. She was missing her shoes, and I tried to give her a braid crown because her hair had just been in pigtails.
I served the three fondues in a triple crockpot. There was a cheese, vegan broth, and vegan chocolate. Most of the kids tried at least two fondues. We served them in paper cups to try and avoid cross contamination.
The children were encouraged to decorate our large Boog further, and also to make an individual Boog to burn or not as they desired.
Everyone always wants to sit next to Oscar. We are going to need to clone him.
After the Boog burning, the kids decided that since we had a fire and marshmallows, we should roast them. Then they tried to roast some other things.
One side of our decorated Boog. He had multiple faces. Terrifying.
