Crayon candle making

Shannon suggested that we make candles for Christmas presents out of our giant pile of unused crayons. All the kids took turns helping peel the crayons, but it's pretty boring, so Shannon did most of them.
The kids took turns picking which color to do next. After the first two batches, we realized that we couldn't really clean out the pot inbetween, so we started doing them from dark to light, with a mixed up layer of the things that were accidentally skipped at the very end.
There was a small problem with getting the wicks to stay up straight ish, which we solved with Popsicle sticks.
This is what the melting crayons look like. We added some parowax to each color, just to help it melt better as a candle, and also to add some bulk. The kids enjoyed swirling the pot to mix up the different tones of each color.
Here is what one looks like. Unfortunately, it looks like the candle doesn't melt fast enough, so the wax keeps snuffing out the flame.
